Rachel Süss, b. 3.17.1874, deported on 7.11.1942 to Auschwitz

Bornstraße 22 (Eimsbüttel, Rotherbaum)

The mother of Emmy Pein ran a linens and hat business in Altona. She lived at Weidenstieg, Heinrich-Barth-Strasse, and Dillstrasse, until she moved in Bornstrasse 22. In 1940, the stateless widow possessed neither assets nor a regular income. She took in her daughter and her new son-in-law [see biographical entry for Emmy Pein and Alfred Pein] in a small three-room apartment. When she received a deportation order, they reported voluntarily and accompanied her.
