Getting Involved in the Stolperstein Initiative

People from all walks of life are involved in the Hamburg Stolperstein Initiative. What unites them is the shared aim of giving back the names of those whom the Nazis sought to erase and reduce to numbers.

The volunteer researchers investigate the lives of these individuals through archival records and historical documents, search for surviving relatives and get in touch with them.

They write the texts for new Stolpersteine, help organise the installations and take part in commemorative events – often together with family members, Stolperstein sponsors and other volunteers. They also support school students and other interested groups with their own research.
