Essener Street 54 (formerly camp Tannenkoppel, Weg 4, also called "Tarpenbek = Forced labor camp of the armaments industry in Hamburg Langenhorn)

Alexandra Nikolajew was born in Hamburg on July 31, 1944. Her parents, Nadja, née Polos, born on April 28, 1921 in Russia, and Wassili Nikolajew, were deported from their homeland and forced to perform forced labor in Hamburg-Langenhorn for Hanseatische Kettenwerk GmbH (HAK) and Deutsche Meßapparate GmbH (Messap), respectively. Nadja Nikolajew and her husband were housed separately in the women's and men's camps in the "Ostarbeiterlager Tannenkoppel", Weg 4.

On the day of the birth of her child, Nadja was admitted to the Alsterdorf hospital under her maiden name Polos. Nine days after giving birth, on August 9, 1944, she returned with her daughter Alexandra to the "Tannenkoppel Eastern Labor Camp."

Alexandra had to spend the short time of her life in this forced labor camp. The nutritional and living conditions were completely inadequate for her there.
On October 2, 1944, she was admitted to the Langenhorn General Hospital with the diagnosis of "facial serysipelas" (bacterial skin infection) and after three and a half weeks, on October 25, 1944, she was released back to the Tannenkoppel forced labor camp.

That same night, at 12:30 a.m. on October 26, 1944, Alexandra died. In the police chief's death notice, signed "i. A. Hillmann L. A.," the cause of death is given as "asphyxiation in the act of vomiting" without "official investigation" and without specifying a doctor. The "accountant" Johannes Heller reported the death orally to the registry office.

Alexandra's father Vasily Nikolayev seems not to have been housed in the Tannenkoppel camp during this time, because in her death notice his "place of residence" is entered as "unknown".

Alexandra was 2 months, 3 weeks and 3 days old.

Eleven days after her death Alexandra was buried on November 6, 1944 in the Ohlsdorf cemetery, grave location: Q 39, row 14, no. 38. Her grave is no longer preserved. At the end of 1959 it was levelled together with at least 146 graves of children of forced laborers on area Q 39.
