Richard Wagner was among the 71 patients who, at the end of July 1941, were bought by the "gray busses" of the GeKraT (Public Utility Transport Company) from the Alsterdorf Institute to the Langenhorn State Hospital.
Born on 30 January 1926, he was, at the age of seven, admitted to the Alsterdorf Institute (today, the Alsterdorf Evangelical Foundation). As in the case of Walter Geffers (see his biographical entry), little is known about Richard Wagner, because his medical records no longer exist. In the typically disparaging way of those days, immediately after his transfer from Alsterdorf, his hereditary health record states: "This is a case of an incurably ill, inferior, and over-excitable pat[ient], who has no sort of relationship to his environment, whose care raises considerable difficulties, and who requires complete supervision. He is wholly incapable of work.”
According to the Alsterdorf book of records, Richard Wagner was transported to the Langenhorn Institution on 28 July 1941. By November 1941, three further transports brought 70 people to Langenhorn. Sixty-six occupants were transferred to Tiegenhof in Gnesen in November and December of 1941. Four occupants still in the Langenhorn psychiatric hospital had died by the end of November. One of these four unfortunates was Richard Wagner. He died on 8 September 1941 according to the death register entry from blood poisoning.
